The Artist: Ann O. Rosenau: USA 1912-1980 Ann Rosenau was born in Philadelphia in 1912. She studied
with Dr. Furhman Fink, Dr. William Goldman, Naomi Limont, Vivian Bergenfeld,
Merle Spandorfer, Victor Laschuchin, Hitoshi, and Leon Sitarchuk. Her work is owned in public and private collections and
has been exhibited a variety of venues including: the Philadelphia Art
Alliance; Corestate Banks; Philadelphia Museum of Art, Philadelphia Civic
Center, and Delaware Museum of Art. Her works are in permanent public
collections including: University of Delaware, Newark, Delaware; Huntington
Valley Library Loan Collection, Huntington Valley, Pennsylvania; and private
collections including: Philadelphia, New York, Delaware, New Jersey, Virginia,
Illinois, California, Florida, and in Germany. Rosenau won purchase prizes
and awards including, First Prize in Graphics at Jeannette W. Rosenbaum
Art Center; Purchase Prize University of Delaware, Newark, Delaware; and
First Prize and Honorable Mention at Holmesburg-Torresdale Historical
and Art Show. The Art: Rosenau was a master printmaker. Her skill with etching
and collagraph demonstrates discipline, attention to detail, and a keen
sense of balance and design. Color and line are handled with sensitivity
and skill, and her work is spiritual and philosophical. Ann Rosenau's
work is diverse and intellectually compelling.
