Sizelove,
Steve: 1973, USA
The Artist:
Steve Sizelove was born in Milwaukee Wisconsin. He completed
the "Foundations" program at Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design in Wisconsin
in 1993; attended the Kevin O'Grady, Lewis Wilson, Roger Parramore, and
Robert Mickelsen workshops at Glasscraft, Inc. in Golden, Colorado in
1996, 1977, 1988, and 1999 respectively. In 1999 Sizelove, completed the
traditional furnace glassblowing course with Ed Broadfield at Table Mountain
Glassworks, Lakewood, Colorado. Sizelove worked and studied at two workshop
programs in 2004 under Lucio Bubacco, in Lagayette Indiana. Further, in
2006 Mr. Sizelove studied at Milon Townsend's "Focus on the Figure", in
Hilton New York. Steve Sizelove continues to explore the process of the
glass medium and in that exploration he continues to seek opportunities
to work with masters in the field.
Flameworking glass provides Sizelove with opportunities
to explore color, composition and texture, often in the context of traditional
forms. His work, although displaying the foundations of tradition, evolves
beyond historical references. His figure study goblets, for example, present
the union of contemporary form with the classical study of the human figure.
Each work is unique, and present images that blur the line between goblet
and sculpture.

Sizemore, a master craftsman, is both student and teacher.
His work is respected and admired throughout the US and abroad. Currently
and throughout his career he has been teaching workshops, giving demonstrations,
